Violence During/after Etoile Vs Enyimba Game. Story By Enyimba's Media Officer - Sports

Farriel Alaputa (Enyimba's Media Officer) :
In all my years as an official of Enyimba, I have never experienced such lows and extreme highs from one game.

The ruthlessness of Etoile du Sahel was startling. So much so that the ref couldn't get into the dressing room during half time.

I was prevented from using my tablet, phone and camera. The head of the Abia State Permanent Secretary of Sports was cracked open by stones.

The threat of violence was so high that all Enyimba officials were on the bench during the game, the only safe place they could hide.

Despite that, rocks, iron rods and plastic bottles were rained down on the roof of the bench throughout. You dared not raise your head high.

During half time, the match officials and match commissioner were victims of the stoning and they had to retreat to the bench of Etoile.

It was our water the match officials had to drink. Etoile officials abandoned them. Unbelievable scenes. Never seen anything like that.

We are still on the road. Police escorts had to make a detour after they were informed Etoile fans were waiting for us somewhere.

Finally. We arrive our hotel. A remarkable day it's been.

We are just leaving the stadium now. Had to wait for police to deal with crowd RT @tayOgunseye: How were you able to get out of the stadium?

The streets of Monastir are deserted as our police escorts lead us back to the hotel.

@raphosemobor there were policemen in and around the stadium, however they were unwilling and unable to deal with the fans.

@IamPhikayo @ColinUdoh yes. They are all very 'passionate', we know. But in Europe this game would never even had started.

Not sure I saw one black face in that crowd the few times I looked. Every time your head went up, a stone came down

To see them score 3 goals after everything they'd done was painful but watching Afelokhai make that final save is a feeling I'd never forget

@Farriel I'm happy everything turned out well.. Hopefully you'll lay a complaint to CAF. Unacceptable conduct by Etoile du sahel

@Cybereagles you can sit wherever you are and say this. I'm not talking about performances. I'm talking about issues CAF has to deal with.
